New houses for Roma families

The main goal of the social housing project was not only to provide practically homeless Roma people

The main goal of the social housing project was not only to provide practically homeless Roma people (living in the crowded illegal huts of relatives or in erected by themselves poor illegal huts without electricity and water) but mostly to provide couples with children and with intention to be active in looking for work and for family prosperity with proper housing conditions as the basis for improvement of the quality of their life. The project is part of a complex set of interventions in the predominantly inhabited by Roma living quarter ‘Iztok’ of the town of Kyustendil and its success of preservation of houses in excellent status and of living together in good neighbor relations and by respecting other people’s privacy is due to the complexity of educational, vocational, awareness raising, health education and occupation encouragement measures provided.
