The traditional summer project, which brings together young volunteers from across the country, aims to improve the living conditions of socially disadvantaged families. After a thorough assessment of needs in the Antonovo region, the program team visited the identified families to better understand their needs and evaluate the necessary construction work in their homes. Following a careful selection process, two families from the village of Taimishte were chosen, as they were living in extremely harsh conditions. Basic amenities such as a bathroom, kitchen, beds, and designated spaces for children and adults were lacking.
The “MlaDoS” program launched its volunteer campaign to recruit volunteers and raise funds. At the beginning of September, about 30 young volunteers began working on the renovation of the homes of these families in need. In one of the houses, the roof was completely replaced, a new bathroom and toilet were built, and the rooms were renovated and painted. In addition, a kitchen area was set up and furnished. The second house underwent an identical renovation.
The work of the “MlaDoS” brigade represents a true challenge for the young participants. It involves hard work, fatigue, and new friendships, but also brings great satisfaction from the smiles of people who have never before experienced such comforts in their homes. The children are especially happy, finding new friends among the volunteers and forming bonds that will last a lifetime.
